General Information

dove-S-hand-plane--hammerYou will find us nestled at the base of Stronend in the Fintry Hills within our own 16 acre oak woodland 1.5 miles from our home village of Fintry, Stirlingshire. Dovetail Scotland specialize in bespoke, handmade Kitchens, furniture, oak frame structures fire surrounds and mantles and specialist signage in stone slate and wood. Each piece we produce, when appropriate, carries our dove logo somewhere upon it. We strive for the highest degree of craftsmanship at all times and just as each tree is unique, so too is each piece we produce. All our furniture is made from locally sourced Scottish hardwoods. Our workshop can produce wood turnings, skirting, facings and architectural features, in most Scottish timbers to suit the most demanding requirements. We are members of the Scottish Working Woods label, guaranteeing our products to be at least 98% of Scottish origin.

Our sawmilling facilities allow us to produce most of the timber we require for our own needs and being members of ASHS (the Association of Scottish Hardwood Saw-millers) we are able to market our excess timber and our cutting & drying facilities to local land owners and other makers alike. (These facilities are currently being upgraded to suit our new off grid site)

We enjoy a challenge and have undertaken a diverse range of work from revolving bookcases to complex oak framed structures. We are happy to travel, and so far we have worked as far South as Devizes in Wiltshire to Lairg in Sutherland, 60 miles north of Inverness. From time to time we exhibit our work in conjunction with the Scottish Furniture Makers Association of which we are also members. You will find details of this year’s exhibitions on the SFMA website.

The main features of Scottish hardwoods are their tremendous variation of colour and natural markings. With appropriate maintenance our kitchens and oak frames will survive for generations to come, enhancing the value of your property and giving you pleasure on a daily basis. Our workshop and showroom are always open during normal business hours for a visit should you wish to call in and check on the progress of your project while it is being created.

Invest in your environment!  For every tree we use we guarantee to replant at least 2 replacements.
